As part of the North West Phase II Action Plan a number of strategic priorities have been developed under Priority 1: Reconciling Communities, Theme 1.1 – Building Positive Relations at the Local Level. Three strategic priorities have been developed and Peace on the AGEenda represents a selection of programmes and projects all of which showcase some of the initiatives from Strategic Priority 2 - Influencing and sustaining positive attitudes of young people from an early stage and through an inter-generational focus. These initiatives are supporting our young people and building links with wider generations across the NW Cluster and have the overall aim of challenging attitudes towards sectarianism and racism and support conflict resolution and mediation at the local community level, as well as establishing meaningful cross-community and cross-border initiatives that will improve trust and tolerance and reduce levels of sectarianism and racism.
The Celebrating the Legacy project has only been able to showcase a small number of these diverse projects and we would like to acknowledge the range of innovative, creative, and sometimes challenging and thought-provoking programmes of activity that have been delivered by project partners, tendered programmes or through the small grants programme.
The Legacy Celebration Events Programme is a project supported by the European Union's PEACE III Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body and delivered by the North West PEACE III Partnership of Derry City Council, Omagh District Council, and Strabane District Council.
